Further information

>EHBS was formed over 40 years ago in 1962 by a group of hi-fi enthusiasts who wanted to extend the service they were then providing by using their own record playing and tape recording equipment to play music for patients actually in the wards of some Edinburgh hospitals.

In 1992 EHBS became a company limited by guarantee. Although the company kept the name EHBS, the radio service was re-branded and on 10 November 1997 Red Dot Radio was launched.

EHBS studios were located in Hanover Street in the centre of Edinburgh until 1993. Broadcasting was transferred to a studio in the Eastern General until 1997. On 10 November 1997 EHBS started broadcasting from new purpose built studios in the Old Royal Infirmary at Lauriston Place with the new broadcast name Red Dot Radio.

With the closure of the Old Royal Infirmary in May 2003, EHBS relocated to the Royal Victoria in the Stockbridge area of Edinburgh.
